Hello Rush fans...
Well, it's been a fun ride since last November when the voting began, but with the first Rush tour in five years off and running, the final results are in (see below).
I'd like to sincerely thank everyone for participating in this site. Special thanks to all of you who helped spread the word around to other fans.
Many people took the time to write, expressing thanks and offering opinions. (and yes - I'm sorry about the difficulties caused by the IP screener!). Among the many questions I received, one that kept cropping up was "Does the band know about this site and, if so, are they really taking it to heart?" (or some variation thereof). Please rest assured: the band and their management were well aware of the petition from day one, and (from what I am told) they quite enjoyed the feedback. They approved of the idea, and even referred to it as "very useful information". I'm told that it actually DID have an affect on this year's set list. We shall see...
Apart from various on-air radio mentions (e.g. Rockline, 5/13/02 and 5/15/02, with Bob Coburn, WDHA (NJ), Q107 (Toronto), HTZ (ONT/NY), KLBJ (Austin, TX), etc.), here are some links to a few of the articles/interviews where the site was mentioned:
CANOE (Jam Showbiz), 3/14/2002
CANOE (Jam Showbiz), 4/15/2002
CANOE (Jam Showbiz) Interview with Alex, 5/8/2002
The Toronto Star, 5/11/2002
CNN Interview with Alex, 5/28/2002
So, be proud - you all made a difference, and we should be hearing some interesting gems this year...even though my personal top choice - "The Fountain of Lamneth" - didn't quite fare as well in the results as I had hoped! But I am sure the guys will balance the results of this exercise with their own artistic needs, and we should be treated to quite the show in 2002.
Anyway, it was a lot of fun running this site, and I'm glad so many of you enjoyed it. I know I did. Hope to see you at some shows...
All the best,
-Skip Daly
